WELCOME TO TELLURIDE. Telluride is a slice of paradise in the beautiful San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Originally named Columbia, our tiny town was later named Telluride to avoid mail delivery confusion with a California town of the same name. Settled by immigrant miners in the mid to late 19th century, Telluride is now a National Historic Landmark District, located in a beautiful box canyon which ends at the highest waterfall in Colorado. Featuring authentic Victorian architecture, with most homes protected from significant change, Telluride is home to a diverse, year-round population of around 2,000 folks; hearty, healthy, cheerful, athletic and downright happy folks! Mountain Village, Telluride's neighbor on the ski mountain, is a European-style mountain town, dotted with vacation homes, hotels and condominiums that peer out over the dramatic mountain terrain that is ideal for skiing and hiking.
